May 2009

The beginning

With a recession in full swing, freelance designer Simon Tann decides to sell everything he owns to start a creative agency. Tann Westlake is born from Simon’s home and he becomes the proud owner of an £800 Fiat Punto (he still thinks this was the best car he ever owned).

Get calling

After some very long periods of sitting around doing not very much and drinking lots of tea, the phone starts to ring with enquiries after calling just about every single company we could find within a 20 mile radius – Sorry if we bothered you with calls back then.

Jan 2011

Putting down roots

Tann Westlake moves out of its first home and into a proper grown-up office in Rustington. A small space, but an exciting step as we start to win more and more clients, including some blue chip companies and the projects become centered around web development and digital marketing.

Sep 2011

Team building

With more work coming in than one person can handle, Tann Westlake hires its first designer and account manager and we start to focus on websites using WordPress as a Content Management System.

Jan 2012

The fun starts here

We’re really picking up steam now. We recruit an art director and later in the year a web developer – instantly making christmas parties a lot more interesting. We win even more new clients, including our first big account with Japanese entertainment giant Namco, and a move to a slightly bigger office gives us some much needed creative space.

Feb 2013

All about the sofas

After pitching against five other agencies, we win our biggest client to date helping change the trajectory of the agency. With more people joining the team we needed to move offices again. We all get really excited about the prospect of having sofas in the corner of this one.

Mar 2013

In the agency’s fourth year of business, Tann Westlake revenue and billings proudly grows by an impressive 70% in 2013.

Dec 2014

Another big year

It’s been another big year for the agency. We start to build our digital marketing team and land The Body Shop as a client. Sales this year grow by more than 70% again.

Dec 2015

Certified Google Partner

Tann Westlake is made a Google Partner in 2015 – an impressive accolade. We also grow by over 50% in billings and revenue once again and now boast a ten-strong team of talented designers, developers and marketeers.

Hello Southbank

After winning more and more London based clients it was time to put down some roots in town, opening a new office on the South Bank (with an unlimited supply of coffee and beer on tap of course). If you’re passing drop in and see us.
