What is responsive design?

To put it simply, a responsive theme will allow visitors to easily view your website on their mobile or tablet device. The theme adjusts itself so that visitors don’t have to pinch the image on the mobile screen to zoom in and navigate around the pages.

Why is it so important?

If your visitor has to waste valuable time fiddling around zooming in to see your pages, possibly struggling to read the tiny fonts, then they are most likely to come off your site and go to one that delivers a better and easier browsing experience. Due to new technologies, we as consumers have become accustomed to getting what we want quickly, and are far more sophisticated in our buying preferences. Next time you are on your smart phone test it out to see for yourself, go to a website that is not responsive then go to ours www.tannwestlake.com and see the difference for yourself!

Did you know…

Because of the growing number smart phone users, mobile Internet browsing is set to overtake desktop in 2014.

What are the benefits of a mobile responsive site to your business?

  • Increased conversion rates (more leads and sales)
  • Reduced bounce rate
  • Increased return visits and customer loyalty

What are the benefits of a mobile responsive site to the user?

  • Positive user experience. Users are 67% more likely to buy a product or service when using a mobile friendly site.

A positive user experience results in many things, including; repeat business, word of mouth from happy customers to potential ones, increased revenue and as a result increased financial security for the longer term. It is far cheaper to keep your existing clients happy than spending out to acquire new ones!

For some industries this is more relevant and necessary than others. For example if you lock yourself out of your house and need a locksmith, the chances are you will be looking on your phone to find a locksmith. Therefore optimising to be seen on mobiles would be essential. However, for larger B2B organisations I think it is fair to say that this may not be the case. If your are a business looking to buy bespoke, costly machinery to add to your production line it is highly unlikely you will look on your mobile. I imagine you’d be at your desk browsing through your options on your large screen PC with several tabs open and selecting your choice set.
